Prevention of Developmental Abnormalities

Clinical Study Title:
Prevention of developmental abnormalities with particular emphasis of primary prevention.

Plain English Summary:
Developmental abnormalities in Hungary were examined and the effect of prevention and care was in evaluated. Specifically, this study examined the role of a multivitamin which contained folic acid in those deformities which were in fact preventable with proper supplementation. While several strategies can be employed to correct deformities, including surgery after birth, there is no single cure for deformities and abnormalities. However, the use of a multivitamin is a simple and cost effective measure that has been shown to reduce many preventable birth deformities from even starting.
