Oral Vitamin B12 is Effective Form

Clinical Study Title
Oral cobalamin therapy for the treatment of patients with food-cobalamin malabsorption.

Plain English Summary:
For many people who have deficiencies of vitamin b12, treatment consists of vitamin b12 supplementation. Ten participants with cobalamin, or vitamin b12, deficiency were identified and evaluated for malabsorption problems. They were given supplements of cobalamin for a total of at least a period of 3 months. Participants’ blood levels were then evaluated over the course of the study. The levels of absorption of the oral supplemented b12 were found in the blood of the participants. This suggests that a daily oral supplement of vitamin b12 can alleviate deficiency due to inadequate vitamin b12 absorption or intake.
