Riboflavin Supports Healthy Fetal Growth

Clinical Study Title:
Fetal growth is associated positively with maternal intake of riboflavin and negatively with maternal intake of linoleic acid.

Plain English Summary:
This study looked at what maternal factors were associated with growth of the fetus. A total of 372 pregnant women participated in this study. The participants were interviewed to determine nutritional status. The consumption of n-3 fatty acids with arachidonic acid were related to improved growth in fetuses. Additionally, vitamin B2 was also positively related to fetal growth. This study suggests that maternal diet is very important for growth in fetuses. Various nutrients are found to be more significant than others. A supplement of vitamin B2 can help to ensure proper growth of unborn babies.
