Vitamin B3 is Works as Well as Enalapril

Clinical Study Title:
Beneficial effects of nicorandil versus enalapril in chronic rheumatic severe mitral regurgitation: six months follow up echocardiographic study.

Plain English Summary:

This study compared the use of nicroandil versus enalapril for the left ventricle functioning in patients with chronic rheumatic severe mitral regurgitation. A total of 80 people participated in this study, and were given ECGs at the beginning and at the end of the 6 month study. Both the group who was given nicorandil and enalapril had reductions in the systolic volume of the left ventricle; however the group taking nicrandil had improved reductions. This suggests that the use of nicorandil, or vitamin B3, is at least equal to the drug enalapril, if not a better alternative for patients with chronic rheumatic severe mitral regurgitation in terms of cholesterol reduction.
