Vitamin B3 Helps Protect the Heart
Clinical Study Title:
Effect of nicorandil on coronary events in patients with stable
angina: the Impact Of Nicorandil in Angina (IONA) randomised trial.
| Plain
English Summary: |
This
study looked at nicorandil and its effect on cardiac
events for adults who had a history of angina. Over
5100 adults were divided into 2 groups, and given
either nicorandil or a placebo. Participants were
followed and coronary events were measured and compared
between groups. Those participants in the nicorandil
group had less incidence of death due to heart disease,
as well as less acute coronary syndromes. The use
of nicorandil for patients with angina can help improve
outcomes and the syndrome itself. Vitamin B3 supplementation
is then a good treatment to help alleviate problems due
to angina. |
