Vitamin C Improve Concentrations

Clinical Study Title:
Vitamin C augments lymphocyte glutathione in subjects with ascorbate deficiency.

Plain English Summary:
This study examined the use of vitamin C to improve the glutathione concentrations in humans. This control of glutathione has been associated with a reduced risk of many chronic diseases. Participants were given a vitamin C supplement or a placebo daily for a total of 13 weeks. At the end of the study, those participants who had taken the vitamin C had better levels of glutathione than did those taking the placebo. This suggests that a daily vitamin C supplement can help improve the function of the immune system and afford added protection against many chronic diseases.
