Vitamins A and E Supplementation

Clinical Study Title:
A randomized, double masked, clinical trial of high dose vitamin A and vitamin E supplementation after photorefractive keratectomy.

Plain English Summary:
This study examined the use of vitamins A and E to aid in recovery after laser eye surgery. A total of 40 participants who had laser eye surgery were divided into two groups. The first group were given a placebo, and the other group were given vitamin A and E supplements. Those participants who were given the multivitamin supplements had faster healing times postoperatively. Additionally these participants reported less haze, and better visual acuity. This supports the use of vitamin A and E after laser eye surgery to improve healing and aid in improving vision outcomes.
