Riboflavin as a Treatment for Migraines
Clinical Study Title:
High-dose riboflavin as a prophylactic treatment of migraine: results
of an open pilot study
| Plain
English Summary: |
This
study looked at the use of a vitamin B2 supplement
to help to reduce the number of migraines that a person
who is prone to them may get. A total of 49 persons
who suffer from migraines were enrolled in this study.
All participants were given a daily supplement of
vitamin B2, while 23 of the participants were also
given aspirin in addition to the vitamin B2. Only
one person in the study reported side effects of the
treatment. The addition of the aspirin did not enhance
the effects of the treatment. Most participants reported
a decrease in the number of migraines during the study.
Vitamin B2 supplementation could then be considered
a safe and inexpensive treatment for migraines. |
