Clinical Study Title:
Effects of pravastatin with niacin or magnesium on lipid levels and postprandial lipemia.
|Plain English Summary:|
|This study examined the use of 3 different agents, a pravastatin-niacin combination, a pravastatin-magnesium combination, or a pravastatin-placebo combination, on the cholesterol levels of patients with a risk factor for lipid problems. After 4 months of administration, participants' cholesterol levels were measured and compared across the groups. Those participants taking the niacin combination had the greatest benefit of cholesterol improvement. The use of niacin as an additive to cholesterol lowering medicines has a beneficial effect.|
