Vitamin B5

Absorption Methods.

Clinical Study Title:
Dexpanthenol enemas in ulcerative colitis: a pilot study.

Plain English Summary:
This study looked at the use of vitamin B5 to affect the levels of Coenzyme A, as well as the fatty acid oxidation and the prognosis of ulcerative colitis. Participants were given a topically administered vitamin B5 for a total of 4 weeks. The lab results suggested that this administration method was effective at being absorbed by the body. However, this dosage was not strong enough to elicit a change in the disorder. The use of vitamin B5 administered topically is an effective means of delivering vitamin B5 for absorption in the body, however oral forms may be easier to use and just as effective.
