Vitamin B6 Improved Heart Transplant

Clinical Study Title:
yridoxine improves endothelial function in cardiac transplant recipients.

Plain English Summary:
Elevated homocysteine levels are also associated with endothelial dysfunction, which is a common occurrence in patients who have had heart transplants. This study looked at the use of folate and vitamin b6 supplements on the endothelial dysfunction. Participants in this study received a vitamin b6 supplement, a folate supplement, or a placebo supplement post surgery. At the conclusion of the study, the participants who had been given the vitamin b6 supplements had improved endothelial functioning. This suggests that a supplement including vitamin b6 can help to improve endothelial functioning, especially for heart transplant patients.
