Vitamin C and Treatment for Meniere’s Disease

Clinical Study Title:
Radical scavengers for Meniere's disease after failure of conventional therapy: a pilot study.

Plain English Summary:
This study examined the effect of several radical scavengers, including ascorbic acid (also known as vitamin C) on a disorder known as Meniere’s disease. A total of 25 participants were enrolled in this study. They were given daily oral supplements of a combination of glutathione, rebampide, and vitamin C. After 8 weeks of treatment, the symptoms of Meniere’s disease were again examined. The majority of participants reported a significant improvement of the symptoms. This suggests that radical scavengers such as vitamin C can be an effective treatment of Meniere’s disease.
