Vitamin C on Lipid Levels in the Blood

Clinical Study Title:
The salutary effects of antioxidant vitamins on the plasma lipids of healthy middle aged-to-elderly individuals: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.

Plain English Summary:
This study examined the use of vitamins E and C on lipid levels in the blood. A total of 120 healthy adults were enrolled in this study. Participants were given vitamin E, vitamin C, both vitamin E and C or a placebo on a daily basis during the study. The lipid levels of the blood were taken both before and after the study, and then compared. The use of vitamin E, vitamin C, and their combination were all effective at reducing the lipid level in healthy adults. This suggests that a daily vitamin with both vitamin E and C can help to lower cholesterol.
