English Summary: |
This
study looked at the use of a vitamin D supplementation
during non summer months on the vitamin D levels in
the body of adolescent girls. The participants were
interviewed and labs were done to determine intake
levels and levels in the blood. During the summer
months, there were no instances of a deficiency of
vitamin D. During the nonsummer months however, there
were several cases of deficiencies. A vitamin D supplement
was able to correct this. This suggests that a daily
supplement to vitamin D should be considered for all
adolescent girls, but especially during the winter
to compensate for the lack of sunlight. |
