Clinical Study Title:
Vitamin E can reduce blood pressure in mild hypertensives.

Plain English Summary:
This study looked at the use of vitamin E supplements on blood pressure and heart rate in people with hypertension. Seventy participants who have been diagnosed with mild hypertension were included in this study. Half of the participants received daily supplements of vitamin E, while the other group received a placebo to take daily. After 27 weeks, blood pressure and heart rate were examined and then compared. Those participants who had been taking the vitamin E supplements had a reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. For patitents with mild hypertension, the use of a daily vitamin E supplement can help to reduce both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
