With Warfarin.
Clinical Study Title:
Randomized, placebo-controlled trial of oral phytonadione for excessive anticoagulation.
Plain English Summary: |
This study looked at the most effective way to treat anticoagulation associated with warfarin. A total of 30 participants with international normalized ratios (INR) that were above the norm were enrolled in this study. They were given either a vitamin K supplement or a placebo. Correction of the INR was achieved first in the group receiving the vitamin K supplement. The use of vitamin K as a supplement to warfarin therapy was more effective at reducing INR than just stopping the use of warfarin alone. This suggests always using a vitamin K supplement whenever using warfarin. |
